Super Century for Vaughan

England Captain Michael Vaughan has equalled former England captain Graham Gooch's record of six Test hundreds at Lord's, marking a return to form for the 33 year old Yorkshire batsman.

Vaughan hit 106 on day four of the first test against New Zealand at the home of cricket, to give England a glimpse of victory.

"When you're under pressure it's always nice to deliver" said Vaughan.

"When you come to Lord's and you've had so much success here it's always a nice place to be coming back to when you need a score. The practice facilities are always excellent, the wicket here suits my style of play, I know the angles of the ground, the slope and everything about it.

"As soon as you walk out it feels like home. I've been there and done it before. I knew the shots required on that wicket and I was very disciplined for the first 30 runs."

He added: "I knew there was hundred there for the taking unless I made a mistake and I didn't make one.

"I just fancied that this week could be a hundred for me. Going through all the practice and going to bed last night I just thought: 'If I play well and I play straight there's a chance that I'll get a hundred'."

Vaughan took nearly five hours and 204 balls for his 18th Test hundred, but his innings featured some trademark cover-drives and his first Test century against New Zealand came up when he struck his 11th four, off Vettori.
