Flintoff Returns with a Wicket
Andrew Flintoff made a successful return to bowling as Lancashire secured a place in the Twenty20 Cup quarter-finals with a 23-run victory over Nottinghamshire at Old Trafford.
It was Flintoff's first spell of bowling in match conditions since injuring his side against Durham on 9 May.
The 30-year-old all-rounder opened the bowling after making nine with the bat, including one six, to help the Red Rose reach 155 for eight.
Flintoff had Australian Adam Voges caught behind off after just the fifth ball of Nottinghamshire's reply in a two over spell, before he returning for two one over spells at the start of the 15th over to finish with one for 27.
He also added a catch on the boundary to gift spinner Simon Marshall the wicket of Bilal Shafayat.
England will hope Flintoff can play a full part in Lancashire's forthcoming Championship match at Sussex and could then consider him for the first Test with South Africa at Lord's on 10 July. |
