After the fantastic jamboree that was the 20/20 World Cup, the holders India, after a monumental homecoming from their supporters have come right back down to earth with a bump and trail Australia 2-0 after the first couple of one dayers in India. The Aussies, as usual, have clearly given no quarter and indeed seemed to have ruffled a few Indian feathers judging by some of the Indian players quotes. The Indians are usually under pressure but with the expectations raised to incredible levels following their 20/20 success it will be hard seeing them come back into contention in this Series.
The English lads yesterday got one monkey off their backs by winning a ODI in Sri Lanka for the first time in 25 years, a great comeback having been hammered in the first one dayer a few days earlier. Dambulla is clearly a ground where you need to win the toss, let’s hope Paul Collingwood can do that on Sunday morning because we will need a lead to take to Colombo for the last two games where the wicket will suit the Sri Lankan bowlers, and batsmen for that matter down to the ground.
Away from the cricket field, it has been interesting watching Michael Vaughan striding the golf links at the Dunhill golf competition up in Scotland, I think it is fair to say that he has left all his good form on the cricket field. Come on Vaughany, let’s see a few birdies over the next couple of days!
